§ 55-4-276 — Women Veterans of Color

(a) A distinctive license plate is authorized for any woman of color who is a veteran, if the woman of color is currently a resident of this state and is otherwise qualified to register and license a motor vehicle pursuant to this title. As used in this section, "woman of color" means a female who is African American, Hispanic, Asian American, American Indian, Alaska Native, or Middle Eastern American. (b) The registration plates shall bear the legend "Women Veterans of Color." (c) The registration plate shall be issued upon payment of the regular registration fee pursuant to this chapter and the additional fee prescribed by § 55-4-204(c)(1) , and submission of information in accordance with subsection (d). (d) For issuance of a license plate pursuant to this section, all applications shall contain information that the commissioner requires proving the eligibility of the applicant as a woman of color who received an honorable discharge as a member of the armed services, as defined in § 49-4-928 .
