Text

(a)This section is known and may be cited as the "Michael Maren Paycheck Protection Act." (b) As used in this section:
(1)"Dues" means the fees imposed on individuals as a condition of their participation or membership in a professional employees' organization; and (2) "Professional employees' organization" has the same meaning as defined in § 49-5-602 .
(c)Notwithstanding chapter 5, part 6 of this title, an LEA shall not deduct dues from the wages of the LEA's employees for a professional employees' organization, including, but not limited to, a professional employees' organization that is affiliated with a labor organization exempt under 26 U.S.C. § 501(c)(5) .
(d)This section does not prohibit an employee of an LEA from personally and voluntarily remitting dues to a professional emp
