(a)Any member who files an executed written application to the board of trustees shall be entitled to receive a service retirement allowance to commence on his effective date of retirement, provided that as of such date:
(1)He shall have been in service upon or after attaining age sixty (60), or (2) He shall have reached age sixty (60) and completed at least ten (10) years of creditable service, or four (4) years of creditable service for any member in an institution of higher learning, or (3) He shall have completed at least thirty (30) years of creditable service. Such member shall designate his effective date of retirement in his application to the board.
