If any district organized under this chapter is appointed fiscal agent of the United States or is authorized by the United States to make collections of money for and on behalf of the United States in connection with any federal reclamation project, the treasurer and each director shall execute an additional official bond in such sum as the secretary of the interior may require. The bond shall be conditioned for the faithful discharge of the duties of the office and the faithful discharge by the district of its duties as fiscal or other agent of the United States under any such appointment or authorization. The additional bonds shall be approved, recorded, and filed as provided in § 46A-4-41 for other official bonds, and any such additional bonds may be sued upon by the United States or an
