Text
No referred school board decision regarding the opening day of classes shall become operative unless approved by a majority of the votes cast for or against the same. If approved, the decision shall take effect upon completion of the canvass of the election returns relating thereto. If the decision of the school board to begin classes before the first Tuesday following the first Monday in September is rejected by the voters, the board shall select a date on or after the first Tuesday following the first Monday in September as the opening day of classes.
