Any information copied, or otherwise obtained, from any report or statement, or copy, reproduction, or publication thereof, filed with the secretary of state under this chapter, shall not be sold or utilized by any person for the purpose of soliciting contributions, or any commercial purpose. For purposes of this section, "any commercial purpose" does not include the sale of newspapers, magazines, books, or other similar communications, the principal purpose of which is not to communicate lists or other information obtained from a report filed in accordance with this chapter. Any violation of this section shall be a Class 2 misdemeanor.
