§ 42-61-3. Appointment of director of lotteries.

The lotteries shall be under the immediate supervision and direction of a director, who shall be a qualified person to administer an enterprise of the nature of a lottery. The director shall be appointed by the governor with the advice and consent of the senate. The appointment shall be reviewed or vetted by the permanent joint committee on state lottery according to Article VI, Section 15 of the Rhode Island Constitution. The director shall serve until the director's successor is appointed and qualified. Any vacancy occurring in the office of the director shall be filled in the same manner
