§ 42-56-2. Establishment of department — Director.
There is established within the executive branch of state government a department
            of corrections. The department shall be headed by a director of corrections, who shall
            be appointed by the governor with the advice and consent of the senate in accordance
            with the procedures set forth in § 42-6-3.
