§ 42-29-18. Power to investigate and prosecute offenses.
Any member of the division of sheriffs may investigate the same and apprehend and
            bring to justice the person or persons committing such offense, and may make complaint
            in behalf of the state against such person or persons and may prosecute said complaint
            to final conviction.
