§ 39-12-9. Permit requirement for contract carriers — Application.
Except as otherwise provided in this chapter, no person shall engage in the business of transporting property as a contract carrier by motor vehicle, in intrastate commerce, over the publicly used highways of this state, unless there is in force, with respect to the carrier, a permit issued by the administrator authorizing the person to engage in the business. Every person proposing to operate as a contract carrier shall file with the administrator, in the form to be provided by him or her, an application for a permit, accompanied by a fee of one hundred dollars ($100).
