§ 25-2-44. Cesar Chavez Day.

The thirty-first day of March shall annually be set aside to be known as "Cesar Chavez Day� and the governor shall issue an annual proclamation inviting and urging people of the state to observe this day in suitable places with appropriate ceremonies. "Cesar Chavez Day� shall be in remembrance of the accomplishments of Cesar Chavez on behalf of our nation's farm workers. The United Farm Workers of America, AFL-CIO under his leadership was, and is, a force for economic and social justice for farm workers. He shall also be remembered for conducting this struggle utilizing the principles of nonviolence.
