The following words and phrases when used in this subchapter shall have the meanings given to them in this section unless the context clearly indicates otherwise: "Fire apparatus operator."A person who operates fire apparatus and devotes his normal working hours to operating any piece of fire apparatus or other services connected with fire protection work and who is paid a stated salary or compensation for the work by the borough. "Police force."A police force organized and operating as prescribed by law, the members of which devote their normal working hours to police duty or duty in connection with the bureau, agencies and services connected with police protection work and who are paid a stated salary or compensation for the work by the borough.
