(1)Any official whose duty it is to approve any bond or undertaking given in favor of the state or any county, city, school district, drainage or irrigation district, board or commission within the state may cancel the bond or undertaking by serving written notice of its election so to do upon the principal and surety or sureties on such bond or undertaking 10 days before it desires the cancellation of the obligation to take effect.
(2)The official at the time of serving such notice shall also file with the officer or official occupying the position of secretary or clerk of the state, county, city, school district, drainage or irrigation district, board or commission, as the case may be, at the regular place of business of such secretary or clerk, a certified copy of such notice.
