The owner, owner’s authorized agent, tenant, contract seller or contract purchaser of a dwelling unit shall not be held liable in any civil action for damages for death or injury to persons or property resulting from the mechanical failure of a smoke alarm or smoke detector required under ORS 479.250 to 479.305.
