Text

(1)If in the examination of any budget of any municipal corporation the commission finds that any item is an expenditure not authorized by law to be made by the municipal corporation, the commission may order the item to be stricken from the budget. The levying board of the municipal corporation thereupon shall strike the item from the budget and shall not thereafter levy any tax for the payment of the same.
(2)If, after the hearing, the commission finds that the total amount of the tax levy of any municipal corporation exceeds the amount permitted by law or any provision of the Constitution of this state to be levied by the municipal corporation, the commission shall order that the total amount of the budget be reduced to within the limits permitted by law or constitutional limitation,
