not in session. Members of the Legislature who are officers of each house of the Legislature shall receive the same per diem and mileage reimbursement when the Legislature is not in session as that provided by law for members of the Legislature for travel to and from the State Capitol in the performance of their duties. Claims for reimbursement under this section shall be approved by the presiding officer of the appropriate house.
