supplies. It is hereby declared to be unlawful for any officer or employee of the State Board of Education, member of a board of education or employee thereof, to solicit, take, retain, or receive any money, property or thing of value in the nature of commissions or otherwise for the purchase or sale of school bonds, or for the purchase of any furniture or supplies, and the soliciting, taking, retaining or receiving of any such money or other thing of value is hereby declared to be a misdemeanor.
