§ 63-1-702a — Licensing of birthing centers to cease.

A.On and after the effective date of this act, the State Department of Health shall cease licensing birthing centers. No new license shall be issued, and no current license shall be renewed upon expiration. Provided, however, this subsection shall not be construed to exempt a hospital that operates a birthing center from the requirement to obtain a hospital license under Section 1-702 of this title.
B.The State Commissioner of Health shall promulgate rules establishing standards for day treatment programs other than those operated by community mental health centers.
