§ 63-1-203 — County superintendent of health - Appointment -

Compensation.
(a)There is hereby created the office of county superintendent of health for each county that does not maintain a county department of health and that does not participate in the maintenance of a district department of health.
(b)The county superintendent of health shall be a regularly practicing physician, of good standing and of good moral character, and shall be a resident of the county for which he is appointed. He shall be appointed by, and shall serve at the pleasure of, the State Commissioner of Health. He shall be compensated for his services at a rate to be fixed by the board of county commissioners, subject to the following limitations: In counties having a population of not more than ten thousand (10,000), as shown by the last preceding Federal Decennial Census,
