A.A licensed orthotist may only provide care or services pursuant to a prescription from a licensed physician. A licensed prosthetist may only provide care or services pursuant to a prescription from a licensed physician.
B.Effective July 1, 2002, any person who holds himself or herself out as an orthotist or prosthetist or uses the titles Orthotist, Prosthetist, Orthotist/Prosthetist, or common variants of those titles without holding an appropriate license issued by the State Board of Medical Licensure and Supervision, or who, without being registered by the Board, represents himself or herself to be a prosthetic/orthotic technician, or prosthetist/orthotist assistant, or who is in violation of any provision of the Orthotics and Prosthetics Practice Act
