production. After the effective date of this act, it shall be unlawful for any person to intentionally or maliciously injure, deface, alter, destroy or tamper with any safety equipment that is not their own and is used in the drilling or production of an oil or gas well, unless consent is given by or the person is authorized by the owner or operator of the safety equipment.
