§ 45-423 — Hoisting equipment.

The hoisting equipment shall be of such kind and in such condition as to as nearly assure certainty of operation and ease of control at all times, as is practicable. If electric power be used for hoisting, the hoist shall be equipped with an auxiliary safety brake. All hoisting derricks where swinging dump is used, constructed after the date of the passage and approval of this law, shall be so constructed that at no time during the hoisting operations shall the fastening of the cable to the hook approach nearer than thirty-six (36) inches to the sheive. All hoisting sheives installed after the date of the passage and approval of this law, shall be equipped with a shaft the diameter of which shall be to the conveyance load hoisted not less than one (1) inch to each six hundred (600) pounds
