Text

The board of county commissioners may, by resolution, adopt building codes, fire codes, or both building and fire codes which shall be designed for the purpose of promoting, benefiting, and protecting the public health, safety and welfare of the people of this state. The codes adopted pursuant to this section shall be applicable only in the unincorporated areas of the county. All building materials, equipment, and methods of installation or construction shall be at least the equivalent of that prescribed in any building or fire code adopted by the board of county commissioners in quality, strength, effectiveness, fire resistance, durability, and safety. Any codes adopted pursuant to this section shall not apply to the installation and maintenance of electric supply and communication lines
