Text

Any county of the state to which the provisions of Section 863.2 of this title are applicable is authorized to adopt, by appropriate resolution of the board of county commissioners, building and/or fire codes, which codes shall be designed for the purpose of promoting, benefiting and protecting the public health, safety and welfare of the inhabitants of this state, and which shall be applicable to the unincorporated areas of the county, as hereinafter provided. All building materials, equipment and methods of installation and/or construction shall be at least the equivalent of that prescribed in any building or fire code adopted by the board of county commissioners, under the provision of this act, in quality, strength, effectiveness, fire resistance, durability, and safety; provided that
