(A)As used in this section:
"Animal shelter" has the same meaning as in section4729.01of the Revised Code.
"Certified officer" means an individual who meets the requirements established under section4729.534of the Revised Code.
"Chemical capture" means using an anesthetic drug or sedative on a companion animal to do any of the following:
(1)Immobilize and capture;
(2)Attempt to immobilize and capture;
(3)Attempt to immobilize or capture.
"Companion animal" has the same meaning as in section959.131of the Revised Code.
(B)A certified officer appointed or employed by an animal shelter or county dog warden that holds a chemical capture classification granted under section4729.533of the Revised Code may, in accordance with that section and rules adopted under it, chemically capture
