(A)An appointing authority may request the superintendent of BCII to conduct a criminal records check with respect to any person who is under consideration for appointment or employment as an emergency medical technician-basic, an emergency medical technician-intermediate, or an emergency medical technician-paramedic. An appointing authority may refuse to appoint a person based on the results of that criminal records check if the individual is convicted of or pleads guilty to an offense included on the list developed by the state board of emergency medical, fire, and transportation services under section9.79of the Revised Code and performs the evaluation described in division (D) of that section.
