(A)As used in this section:
(1)"Rural hospital" means a hospital agency, as defined in section140.01of the Revised Code, that meets all of the following criteria:
(a)Is in compliance with Chapter 3722. of the Revised Code;
(b)Is located in a county that has a population of less than one hundred twenty-five thousand.
(2)"Physician" means an individual authorized under Chapter 4731. of the Revised Code to practice medicine and surgery, osteopathic medicine and surgery, or podiatric medicine and surgery.
(B)Subject to division (C) of this section, a rural hospital or a health care facility that is owned or operated by a rural hospital may employ a physician. A hospital or facility that employs a physician in accordance with this section is not engaged in the practice of medicine an
