Text

This section establishes the Ohio school sponsorship program. The department of education and workforce shall establish an office of Ohio school sponsorship to perform the department's duties prescribed by this section.

(A)(1) Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in this chapter, any person, group of individuals, or entity may apply to the department for direct authorization to establish a community school and, upon approval of the application, may establish the school. Notwithstanding anything to the contrary in this chapter, the governing authority of an existing community school, upon the expiration or termination of its contract with the school's sponsor entered into under section3314.03of the Revised Code, may apply to the department for direct authorization to continue operating
