(A)As used in this section:
(1)"Automated external defibrillator" has the same meaning as in section3313.717of the Revised Code.
(2)"Psychomotor skills" means the use of hands-on practice to support cognitive learning.
(B)Except as provided in division (E) of this section, each school operated by a school district which offers grades nine to twelve shall provide instruction to students in cardiopulmonary resuscitation and the use of an automated external defibrillator. Instruction shall include the psychomotor skills necessary to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation and use an automated external defibrillator and shall be either of the following:
(1)An instructional program developed by the American heart association or the American red cross that includes instruction in cardiop
