(A)Imposition of a five-year mandatory prison term upon an offender under division (B)(5) of section2929.14of the Revised Code is precluded unless the offender is convicted of or pleads guilty to violating division (A)(1) or (2) of section2903.06of the Revised Code and unless the indictment, count in the indictment, or information charging the offense specifies that the victim of the offense is a peace officer, an investigator of the bureau of criminal identification and investigation, a firefighter, or an emergency medical worker. The specification shall be stated at the end of the body of the indictment, count, or information and shall be stated in substantially the following form: "SPECIFICATION (or, SPECIFICATION TO THE FIRST COUNT). (B) The specification described in division (A) of this section may be used in a delinquent child proceeding in the manner and for the purpose described in section2152.17of the Revised Code.

(C) As used in this section:

(1) "Peace officer" has the same meaning as in section2935.01of the Revised Code.

(2) "Investigator of the bureau of criminal identification and investigation" has the same meaning as in section2903.11of the Revised Code.

(3) "Firefighter" means a firefighter, whether paid or volunteer, of a lawfully constituted fire department.

(4) "Emergency medical worker" means a first responder, emergency medical technician-basic, emergency medical technician-intermediate, or emergency medical technician-paramedic, certified under Chapter 4765. of the Revised Code, whether paid or volunteer.
