(A)If a person charged with a misdemeanor is taken before a judge of a court of record and if it appears to the judge that the person has alcoholism or is experiencing acute alcohol intoxication and that the person would benefit from services provided by a community addiction services provider, the judge may place the person temporarily with a community addiction services provider in the area in which the court has jurisdiction for inpatient care and treatment for an indefinite period not exceeding five days. The commitment does not limit the right to release on bail.
