No person shall sell, offer for sale, or install for use any new central air conditioner, refrigerator, refrigerator-freezer, freezer, kitchen range or oven, dishwasher, clothes washer, clothes dryer, furnace, water heater, room air conditioner, television set, humidifier, home heating equipment other than furnaces, or other consumer product subject to an energy efficiency standard promulgated under section 325 of the "Energy Policy and Conservation Act," 89 Stat. 923, 42 U.S.C.A. 6295, as amended, that is not in compliance with applicable standards promulgated under that section. This section does not apply to the sale, offering for sale, or installation of any such category of consumer product for which no applicable energy efficiency standard has been promulgated pursuant to
