§ 1298. Title not affected if in part unconstitutional or ineffective.\nIf any provision of any section of this title or the application thereof\nto any person or circumstance shall be adjudged invalid by a court of\ncompetent jurisdiction, such order or judgment shall be confined in its\noperation to the controversy in which it was rendered, and shall not\naffect or invalidate the remainder of any provision of any section of\nthis title or the application of any part thereof to any other person or\ncircumstance and to this end the provisions of each section of this\ntitle are hereby declared to be severable.\n
