§ 581-603. Independent legal counsel. A person acting as surrogate,\nand the spouse of the person acting as surrogate, if applicable, has the\nright to be represented from the initiation of the contractual process\nand throughout the duration of the surrogacy agreement by independent\nlegal counsel of their own choosing who is licensed to practice law in\nthe state of New York, to be paid for by the intended parent or parents.\n
