§ 256. Contracts.

1.Any authority named in section two hundred\nfifty-five may, individually or jointly with another municipal or\ndistrict body or tribal government, grant money for the support of the\ncost of maintaining or the cost of any capital improvements to or\nexpenditure for one or more: free association libraries, provided such\nlibraries are registered by the regents; public libraries, provided such\nlibraries are registered by the regents; and cooperative library systems\napproved by the commissioner; or may, individually or jointly with\nanother municipal or district body or tribal government, contract with\nthe trustees of a free association library registered by the regents, or\nwith any municipal or district body having control of such a library, or\nwith the trustees
