§ 70. Definition. As used in this article: "Defense work" shall mean\nnoncombatant service performed in connection with (a) the manufacture,\nproduction and distribution of articles and materials for defense on or\nfor contracts for the armed forces of the United States, or for any\nother agency of the United States, or for any associated power of the\nUnited States, (b) any other work related thereto, or (c) any other\noccupation, activity or employment essential to the defense effort or\nnecessary to promote and protect the public health and welfare and the\nsafety and security of the people of the state.\n
