§ 41. Waiver of type, weight and size limitations for certain\nvehicles.

1.As used in this section "public highway" shall mean and\ninclude any highway, road, street, avenue, alley, public place, public\ndriveway, parkway, bridge or any other public way in the state.\n 2. Notwithstanding any inconsistent provision of law, the state\ncommissioner of transportation, whenever he deems it necessary in the\ninterest of the defense effort, may issue permits subject to such\nconditions as he deems necessary for safety for the operation or\nmovement upon any public highway in the state of vehicles or the\ncombinations thereof, the types, weights or dimensions of which are\ninconsistent with or exceed the restrictions of limitations prescribed\nby or pursuant to law.\n
