§ 8. Motions.

a.When a question is before the Senate, only the\nfollowing motions shall be made by a Senator, and such motions shall\nhave precedence in the order here stated, viz.:\n (1) For an adjournment.\n (2) For a call of the Senate.\n (3) For the previous question.\n (4) To lay on the table.\n (5) To postpone to a certain day.\n (6) To commit to a standing committee.\n (7) To commit to a select committee.\n (8) To change calendar arrangement.\n (9) To amend.\n b. The motion to adjourn, or for a call of the Senate, or for the\nprevious question, or to lay on the table, shall be decided without\ndebate, and shall always be in order except as provided in Rules six,\neight and ten.\n c.
