§ 687. Separability. If any clause, sentence, subdivision, paragraph,\nsection or part of this article be adjudged by any court of competent\njurisdiction to be invalid, such judgment shall not affect, impair or\ninvalidate the remainder thereof, but shall be confined in its operation\nto the clause, sentence, subdivision, paragraph, section or part thereof\ndirectly involved in the controversy in which said judgment shall have\nbeen rendered.\n
