It is unlawful for a person, for compensation, to place, install, affix or apply upon the windshield or side or rear window of a motor vehicle any transparent material which alters the color or reduces the light transmission of the windshield or side or rear window unless he or she displays conspicuously in those areas of his or her place of business frequented by persons seeking such services a sign, not less than 22 inches by 28 inches in size, setting forth in boldface letters the following: STATE LAW PROHIBITS THE PLACEMENT OF ANY MATERIAL ON A WINDSHIELD OR SIDE OR REAR WINDOW WHICH ALTERS THE COLOR OR REDUCES THE LIGHT TRANSMISSION OF THE WINDSHIELD OR ANY SIDE OR REAR WINDOW OF A MOTOR VEHICLE, EXCEPT THAT THIS PROHIBITION DOES NOT APPLY TO:
