§ 50.0545 — Interpreter for person with limited English proficiency: Appointment required in criminal proceedings; appointment when certified or registered interpreter not available

Nevada·Title 4 WITNESSES AND EVIDENCE·Ch. 50 Witnesses· GENERAL PROVISIONS

1. An interpreter must be appointed at public expense for a person with limited English proficiency who is a defendant or a witness in a criminal proceeding. 2. If a certified or registered court interpreter is not available, a court shall appoint an interpreter in accordance with the rules adopted pursuant to paragraph (e) of subsection 2 of NRS 1.510 . 3. As used in this section:

(a)“Interpreter” means a person who has a certificate or registration as an interpreter issued by the Court Administrator pursuant to NRS 1.510 and 1.520 .
(b)“Person with limited English proficiency” has the meaning ascribed to it in NRS 1.510 .
