Text

1. Except as otherwise provided in subsection 3, a person who knowingly:

(a)Buys with the intent to resell;
(b)Disposes of;
(c)Sells; or
(d)Transfers, Ê a motor vehicle or part from a motor vehicle that has an identification number or mark that has been falsely attached, removed, defaced, altered or obliterated to misrepresent the identity or to prevent the identification of the motor vehicle or part from a motor vehicle is guilty of a category B felony and shall be punished by imprisonment in the state prison for a minimum term of not less than 1 year and a maximum term of not more than 10 years, and may be further punished by a fine of not more than $60,000, or by both fine and imprisonment. 2.
