Text
When the defendant appears, the defendant may object in writing to the sufficiency of the articles of impeachment, or the defendant may answer the same by an oral plea of not guilty. The plea of not guilty shall be entered upon the journal, and it puts in issue every material allegation of the articles of impeachment.
