The board of county commissioners of the county affected shall, within 60 days after the approval of the act by the Governor, cause an election to be held at the various places of voting in the county. The board of county commissioners shall give notice of the special election by publication once a week for 4 weeks in some newspaper published in the county or by posting written or printed notices at the several voting precincts in the county. The notice shall state the time and place of holding the election and for what purpose such election is held.
