1. The sheriff or chief of police of a city may establish and operate in each jail in his or her jurisdiction a commissary to sell to prisoners committed to the jail food, beverages, toiletries and such other items as may be approved by the sheriff or chief of police. The sheriff or chief of police may require prisoners committed to the jail to work in the commissary. 2. The sheriff or chief of police, or a person designated by the sheriff or chief of police, shall:

(a)Keep accurate books and records of all transactions which take place at the commissary; and

(b)Submit reports of these books and records to the board of county commissioners or governing body of the city, as appropriate, at such times as may be required by the board or governing body. 3. Proceeds from the operation of the

4. The provisions of NRS 426.630 to 426.715 , inclusive, do not apply to any commissary established and operated pursuant to this section.
