1. Except as otherwise provided in subsection 2, the guardian of an estate shall cause an appraisal or valuation of any asset of a guardianship estate to be conducted by a disinterested appraiser, certified public accountant or expert in valuation and file the appraisal or valuation with the court. 2. In lieu of an appraisal, the guardian may file:
