§ 66-3-822 — Requirements for clearance, side-marker and other lamps

A.Except for temporary side-marker and clearance lamps on motor vehicles, as enumerated in Section 66-3-808 NMSA 1978, being transported in driveaway-towaway operations, temporary electric lamps on projecting loads, and temporary marker lamps on pole trailers, all lamps shall be permanently and securely mounted in workmanlike manner on a permanent part of the motor vehicle. All clearance lamps and side-marker lamps must be firmly attached.

B.Clearance, side-marker, tail and projecting load-marker lamps shall be so mounted as to be capable of being seen from a distance of at least five hundred feet under clear atmospheric conditions during the time lamps are required to be lighted. This section shall not be construed to apply to lamps which are obscured by another unit of a combination of vehicles. C. Clearance, side-marker, tail and projecting-load marker lamps shall be constructed and installed so as to provide an adequate and reliable warning signal.
