§ 66-3-8 — Examination of registration records and index of stolen and

New Mexico·Ch. 66 Motor Vehicles·Art. 3 Registration Laws; Security Interests; Anti-Theft
recovered vehicles. The department, upon receiving application for original registration of a vehicle or a certificate of title, except a title issued on a manufactured home, shall first check the engine or other standard identification number provided by the manufacturer of the vehicle shown in the application against its own records, the records of the national crime information center and other records as appropriate.
