effective July 1, 2030.) A. There is created the "New Mexico athletic commission". The commission shall be administratively attached to the department.

B.The commission shall consist of five members who are New Mexico residents and who are appointed by the governor. Three of the members shall have experience in the professional sports, and the other two members shall represent the public. The public members shall not have been licensed or have any financial interest, direct or indirect, in the profession regulated. The members shall be appointed for staggered terms of four years each. Each member shall hold office until the expiration of the term for which appointed or until a successor has been appointed.
