Text
As used in the Adult Adoption Act: A. "adoptee" means any adult who is the subject of an adoption petition; B. "adult" means any individual who is eighteen years of age or older; C. "court" means the district court; D. "parent" means the biological or adoptive parent; E. "person" means an individual; F. "petitioner" means any person who signs a petition to adopt under the Adult Adoption Act; and G. "resident" means a person who, immediately prior to filing an adoption petition, has lived in the state for at least six months or a person who has become domiciled in the state by establishing legal residence with the intention of maintaining the residence indefinitely.
